I have a background in the creative sector, having earned a Fashion degree, worked in fashion design and production, and managed a London-based workspace for fashion businesses in partnership with London College of Fashion. However, I sought a career change to a field where learning never ends. 

During the pandemic, I used my furlough time in 2020 to explore web development through courses on Udemy (WordPress) and Codecademy (HTML/CSS). The courses were intriguing and offered the possibility of learning something new every day. However after my furlough ended, I returned to my community management job full time.

By the end of 2021, my partner and I were burnt out from working site-based jobs throughout the pandemic and ready for a change. I decided to focus on freelance work and temp roles while figuring out our next steps. I also dedicated my free time to my digital art and print design and began building a website for Koa Studio using WordPress and Elementor, reigniting my interest in coding.

In August 2022, we made a drastic change and moved from London to the island of Siargao, Philippines, where my partner's mother is from. The island boasts a warm community and a thriving creative arts, music, and cuisine scene. After settling in, I finally enrolled in Codecademy's Full Stack Engineering course to begin this journey and develop a whole new set of skills. 

As a student, I excelled in Maths and IT and now I'm finally utilising these skills again. I firmly believe that it's never too late to start something new.
